About Us

Everyone has a favorite actor / actress, someone who manages to inspire you and speak to you through the screen. Some people who mastered this skill are the icons of the Golden Age of Hollywood. They were the greats that helped carve modern Hollywood. Here are a few people whose names have managed to remain iconic to this day and for generations to come, people who helped define a craft.

The craft they created was the craft of beautiful cinema. Classic cinema is striking, especially when viewed through a lens overtaken by CGI, fast-paced action, endless superhero franchises and sexual abandonment that leaves nothing to the imagination.

Recall the perfectly coy, flirty and smart exchanges between Jimmy Stewart or Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. The delivery. The affectation. The wit. Their poise, their ease, and pardon the pun, their grace, seems like a relic of days gone by.

Then, of course, there is the clothing. In fact, in many of these films the costumes are just as much a character as the stars themselves. Find a woman who has not tried to emulate Grace Kelly’s rolled-up black Capri pants look. The iconic outfit of halter-neck beach top with black-edged drawstring tie, calf-length skirt, white straw wide-brimmed hat, high-wedge sole sandals and large white beach tote, for example.

This was the time when it was fashionable to be cool, charismatic and of course, to ooze class!.

Let us not forget about what Steve McQueen did to the Persol 714. He was, and still is, the undisputed “King of Cool”.

Yet throughout that Era, a “Golden” couple stood out on screen, a couple whose presence on screen together burns it way into your memories by the sheer strength of their performances. Who else could do that but John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara.

Wayne was a cultural given, a man whose fame and physical stature made him something of his own Mount Rushmore.

His voice and manner are so easy to parody, it can take a while to grasp that he was a marvelous, canny screen actor. At his most ambitious, as in Red RiverRio GrandeThe Searchers and Rio Bravo, he could act brilliantly. Yet even in routine pictures, he dominated the screen as few stars ever have, often by appearing to do nothing. A master of silence, he knew the camera, was the best reactor this side of Cary Grant and did not fear emotion. Wayne let you feel his deep affection for his screen soulmate, Maureen O'Hara, who brought out his tenderness and middle-aged rue.

America's Duke was tough, honorable, and ready to laugh and share a drink, and always ready to do what men had to do in order to see justice done. He did not ask you to like him. He asked you to live up to him.

On seeing his work today, one cannot fail but be moved by his film's portrait of an America whose confidence had yet to be shaken and driven by his un-cynical ability to embody virtues that are well worth preserving. The contempt for pettiness and love of hard work; the courage to be lonely in pursuing your goals; the respect for individuals in all their cussedness; and above all, the willingness to fight and die for a cause bigger than yourself.

All of that is John Wayne, and it is neither male nor female, conservative nor liberal. What it is, and always was, is American.

Even if the Golden Age of Hollywood is just pure nostalgia at this point, it does not mean we cannot still embrace the best parts of it to make our lives more interesting.

The Product range’s you find here, finely crafted with a thorough nod to this by-gone era of true icon’s is designed to bring you back to these days, the days of glamour and style, of natural beauty and poise and the beginning of the legends who are as alive in our minds today as they were on screen then.

These ranges are out tribute to them – we hope you like them.

Come back for more exciting news on future launches.

What is the difference between Perfume, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, and Eau de Cologne?

The difference between types of fragrance is the amount or concentration of the oils in it. These oils are commonly referred to as "juice". The higher the concentration of "juice" the longer your fragrance will last and the less you need to apply.

Perfume (or parfum) has the highest concentration of juice, causing the scent to be released over a longer period of time in a series of notes

The second highest concentration is found in Eau de Parfum which has a touch lighter smell to it than perfume.

Next is Eau de Toilette, whose scent is lighter still, so it is fit to apply liberally.

Lastly, Eau de Cologne is the most subtle version of fragrance; however Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne are generally interchangeable, particularly in Men's fragrances. After Shave has the least amount of oils.

Why do some fragrances seem to last much longer than others?

If you find yourself asking "Why doesn't my perfume last?" the answer may be in your skin. People with dry skin usually find their perfume or fragrance fading faster than those with oily skin because oily skin has more natural moisture to hold in the fragrance.

PH levels (amount of acidity in our skin) vary slightly from person to person. Our individual levels of PH will determine how each ingredient in a fragrance will react and last.

Fragrance holding time can also be affected by the concentration of the scent. Those with higher concentrations will retain their aroma much longer.

Why do fragrances smell different on different people?

Body chemistry is unique. An individual's body chemistry will affect how different fragrance notes react to a person's skin. Skin has a natural smell and can be altered by things like hormonal changes, stress, mood, diet and medications.

How can I make my fragrance last longer?

Fragrance lasts longer on some people than on others because of differences in our skin (oily or dry) and in our PH levels. The easiest ways to achieve a longer effect are by moisturizing and/or layering your fragrance. Try using the fragrance bath gel, (if the company offers one), then the moisturizer or powder, and finish off with the Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum or Eau de Cologne.

Applying your fragrance after a shower can help it last longer, as well as spraying it low on the body, behind your ears and on your neck, so that the scent rises. A light spritz on the hair can last all day.

What is the difference between a splash and a spray?

There is absolutely no difference in fragrance between a splash and a spray. While a spray bottle may have a longer shelf life as it is ostensibly sealed, the only actual difference is in the application making the choice between splash and spray a matter of personal preference.

Why do some men wear Cologne, and others prefer to wear After Shave?

Some men prefer cologne because its fragrance will generally last much longer than After Shave. Others prefer After Shave because of the added cooling and soothing ingredients. Many men choose to wear both because they can use less of each and the fragrance will last longer while also getting the facial benefits.

Why does fragrance contain alcohol?

Alcohol makes the fragrance emanate from your skin and brings out the notes. It helps keep the ingredients blended together, and as it evaporates, it lifts the scents into the air. Without alcohol, you would be the only person who knew you were wearing any fragrance at all.

What are the differences between After Shave Lotion, After Shave Gel, and After Shave Balm?

After Shave Lotion will sometimes sting as it usually contains an antiseptic to reduce irritation of the skin. This will moisturize the face and help close the pores after shaving.

After Shave Balm is soothing to the skin and creamier than After Shave Lotion. After Shave Gel also soothes, as well as cools the skin, and relieves razor burn.

What is shower gel?

Shower gel is soap in a different form. It is manufactured for use by both men and women, foams up well and leaves your chosen fragrance on the skin. The use of shower gel cleanses the body and enhances your cologne or perfume making the fragrance last much longer.

What is a fragrance note?

Fragrances are comprised of many different scents. These scents are called "notes."

You will immediately smell the top notes, which are very light and last just 5-10 minutes, dispersing to make way for the middle notes. Middle notes become apparent about 15 minutes after application and evaporate from your skin slowly, making them the most memorable smells of your Fragrance. Finally, the bottom notes are the heavier ingredients, which stick to your skin for several hours leaving a long-lasting essence. To learn more about fragrance notes.

How can I keep my fragrance from going bad?

To avoid your fragrance going bad, keep all fragrance bottles in a cool, dry area, and away from windows as sunlight can unbalance the various ingredients - An opened bottle should be kept in its box to ensure a longer shelf life.
